Guide for emergencies
This is a guide for action in the event of emergency situations in Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, such as earthquakes, fires, injuries, sudden illness, lost children, and lost articles.
1
Evacuation in the event of earthquakes, fires, etc.
- Along with an alarm signal, we will broadcast a message in Japanese and English throughout the grounds.
- In the event of an earthquake or other emergency, stay away from buildings, bridges, tunnels, animal buildings, and other such facilities; if possible, go to open spaces that are large and safe; and stay low and wait.
- Staff members will patrol the grounds and provide information on provisional closure of the zoo and botanical gardens, safe exits, and other items. Please follow the instructions of the staff in taking action for evacuation.
2
Action in the case of injury or sudden illness
- Please contact the staff or concierge at a gate. (There is a concierge at each gate.)
- First-aid kits are kept at each gate and information center. In the event of minor injuries, staff can disinfect wounds, apply bandages, and perform other first aid on the order of that performed in the home. Please note that the kits do not contain any medicine to be taken internally.
- In the event of injuries or illnesses requiring movement to an aid station or transportation by an ambulance, please contact the staff.
- AEDs are kept at the following seven locations.
①Main Gate, ②North Park Gate, ③Botanical Gardens Gate, ④Hoshigaoka Gate, ⑤Sky View Train Zoo Station Platform, ⑥North Park and Amusement Park No. 1 Ticket Vending Area, ⑦Sky Tower Office

Lost children
- People who find a lost child and guardians who notice that their child is missing are asked to contact the staff or concierge at a gate.
- If the staff are given custody of a lost child or notified that a child is missing, they will provide information and communicate by means of a broadcast throughout the grounds. There is a room for keeping lost children by each gate.

Lost articles
- Lost articles brought to the staff will be kept at the nearest gate. If you notice that you have lost something, please contact the staff or concierge at a gate.
- If something of yours falls into an animal enclosure, please contact the staff or concierge at a gate. Do not under any circumstances go into the animal enclosure yourself.
