Manul

Family: Felidae in the Order Carnivora
The name means "little wildcat" in Mongolian. The manul looks bigger and fatter than it actually is because of its thick coat of long and fine fur. Thanks to this fur, it can even lie along on snow or ice on its belly without getting cold. It is nocturnal and preys mainly on the pika (rock rabbit).

IUCN Red List: LC (Least Concern)

Appendix II of the Washington Convention (CITES)

Zoological name: Otocolobus manul
